Annual Convention Wrap Up

Last week, nearly 6,000 of America’s farmers and ranchers arrived at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, for the IDEAg Trade Show and 97th Annual Convention of the American Farm Bureau Federation.

The trade show floor, with more than 100 exhibitors, featured education on the IDEAg Cultivation Center stage, a Celebration of Grassroots reception, the Taste of America lunch event and some of the best agribusinesses from across the country.

TASC AgriPlanNOW, a Gold Exhibitor at the show, talked with attendees about how they can save an average of $5,000 a year on medical expenses! A very small percent of Americans can deduct out-of-pocket medical expenses on their taxes because these expenses must be higher than 10% of your Adjusted Gross Income to qualify. AgriPlanNOW legally gives family farmers the right to deduct their entire family’s medical expenses as a business expense.

An industry leader, TASC is a third-party benefits administrator that has provided quality services and expertise to the marketplace for over 40 years. AgriPlanNOW comes with an industry-exclusive Audit Guarantee that has been tested and defended in federal, district and U.S. tax courts.

The Celebration of Grassroots reception, held on Saturday, January 9, featured the Presidential Candidate forum. The four candidates for Farm Bureau president met on the IDEAg Cultivation Center stage to discuss the issues facing today’s producers and answer questions from the audience.

Wrapping up the trade show, the Taste of America lunch event, featuring food from each region of the country, was well-received by attendees. Food from each region was placed among the exhibitors’ booths, while Cameron Cato, the 4-time Florida Whip Popping Champion, entertained guests with his extraordinary whip cracking skills.

And to finish off the convention, the 353 voting delegates of the American Farm Bureau Federation elected Zippy Duvall of Georgia as president and Scott VanderWal of South Dakota as vice president for two-year terms.

Congratulations to both President Duvall and Vice President VanderWal on their elections!
